Racism will always exist. It is a hatred that will continue to be taught and handed down, generation after generation. Activists and support groups try to ease the blow to those a part of the minority but it's been around for hundreds of yours, it won't die that easily. Being a black woman who has chosen to rock her natural hair in a dread-lock fashion and who welcomes diversity into her life, it is really hard for me to accept that race has such a powerful influence over society, still to this day. In my eyes, I see that white people will constantly have the upper hand over everyone else. Those with the lighter skin continually are chose first. They say that the workforce is of equal opportunity and non discriminatory, but honestly, who believes that bullshit? I don't. Discrimination and prejudice is still alive and kicking. You know, maybe they'll hire a few "negroes" to meet a certain "quota" or to appear as if they are diversified but I'm pretty sure the black to white ratio is still lower than one would like to think. What really bothers me is that some people just "don't get it." I work with too many white people and they don't get why I am always blabbing about the color of my skin and how I feel that more than a few white people are threatened by me with that alone. Life is fucking hard when you're not the ideal "American." It doesn't matter how many black people are successful with college degrees or being a productive member of society, we are still not advanced enough to the white supremacists. FUCK THEM.

Obviously you haven't applied to a college recently. Minorities are always getting the advantages there. Hell, look at the illegals! They get more perks then those that work!!

and it's still not enough! as a whole, the minority is just that, the MINORITY.if you're white you barely need a care in the world but if you're not then you have to constantly have your guard up.
