*Another writing prompt* My first car I had was a 1998 Lincoln Mercury Mystique. It was this silver/gray color and HER name was Lucy. My mom had bought the car from our old next door neighbors for like $800 when I was in the 8th grade. I think it was supposed to just be some extra car for whatever reason for my mom and stepdad but I ended up persuading her to make it my first car. There was a lot of work that needed to be done on that car. I can't even remember what all it needed but I think the biggest thing was a new battery or engine or something. I loved that car. When I got it, in the 8th grade, I wasn't even worried about learning how to drive or anything really. I just liked the thought of it being MINE. I used to just hang out in it, with my best friend Jasmine, and we even slept in it overnight once. She was my baby. When I did finally learn how to drive and got my license, and the car was up and running, it just felt so good to have my own area and to be able to take myself wherever I wanted to go (within reason). I started driving myself to school during my junior year of high school and I don't know, I felt like I was finally growing up. I just couldn't believe that I was getting around on my own and didn't need rides from anyone to get to where I needed to be or to be on that stupid school bus anymore. I don't even remember how I came up with the name, Lucy, either. I think it was from this childhood cartoon I used to love with this little girl in a red dress and I think that was her name? Me and that car had been through so much. I think I miss her now. She used to seem so sad whenever I would leave her. I have since upgraded, however, and my car's name now is ROBIN.
